Vienna

Some of Vienna's highlights for me: the Ringstrasse encircling the old city, the Albertinaplatz, with it's powerful anti-war statues and holocaust memorial, the Four Rivers fountain with Tom, St. Stephan's cathedral and the square, Stephansplatz, where the modern glass buildings reflect the cathedral image, Trzesniewski's on Dorotheergasse with their delicious little finger sandwiches, the Plague column constructed in the 1600's after 75,000 died, with Lady Faith tossing the plague - the old naked woman - into the abyss, the Hofburg Palace, home of the Hapsburgs whose 7 century reign ended with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, nephew of Franz Joseph, and start of WWI, the Hapsburg Gate, and Hero Square where Hitler addressed thousands during WWII.
